Wave Phenomena, fiber, wax, ink, disc diameters range between 18”-54”, 2011

Wave Phenomena was inspired by images of sound vibrations in the book Cymatics by Hans Jenny.  Jenny, a Swiss scientist, meticulously recorded sound vibrations at various frequencies made visible through the use of powders, pastes and liquids.  With a particular interest in the natural phenomena of the movement of sound made visible, I have attempted to capture this vibrational matrix of sound patterns in motion as an installation of floating discs that one can view from above and below.
